Good news for gluten-free eaters: A brand new Italian restaurant serving totally gluten-free dishes has just opened in Montclair. Punto Rosso comes from the same family that owns La Riviera Trattoria in Clifton and is co-owned by Duke Carlino and chef Ryan Vargo. The family was inspired to open the restaurant after manager Maria Carlino herself was diagnosed with celiac. While they do serve some non gluten-free dishes, the restaurant assures an entire portion of the kitchen is totally gluten-free and safe for those with celiac disease; restaurant management has also been certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group. The menu features gluten-free pastas as well as house-made mozzarella, and grass-fed meats. Vargo has previously been the chef at Porto in Livingston and North Bergen. The restaurant seats 65 and is BYOB. 6 Park St., Montclair, 973-337-8323, puntorossoristorante.com.
